Viktória Kiss’s presentation in Heidelberg – Bioarcheological studies from the Bronze Age
The leader of our research team, Viktória Kiss, gave an online presentation at the Department of Prehistory and Middle Eastern Archaeology at the University of Heidelberg (Ruprecht-Karls-Universität) on 9 November 2021 at the invitation of Professor Joseph Maran.
The lecture presented the results of new bioarchaeological examinations of burials from present-day Hungary in the 2nd millennium BC. Physical anthropological, stable izotope and archaic DNA studies, complementing the archaeological analysis of grave goods and human remains discovered in burials, provide important data on mobility, food consumption, lifestyle and deseases of Early and Middle Bronze Age communities of the region. Due to available multidisciplinary analyses of the 21st century technology burial practice and contemporary society can be better understanded. Besides, we can draw life histories of people who lived in the Carpathian Basin in the mentioned period.
