The 10th MΩMOΣ – Prehistoric Researchers Conference focusing on the archeology of technologywas held in Százhalombatta between 6 and 8 April 2017. During the three-day event there were 37 lectures on 7 topics, 5 of them presented by our research group members.

On the opening day of the conference, Ágnes Király gave a lecture on the psychological, sociobiological and evolutionary aspects of mourning, as well as the possible new directions of cognitive research of Bronze Age burials in the Ritual Techniques session.

On the second day of the event, our joint research with the Archeometallurgical Research Group of the University of Miskolc and the Department of Solid State Physics at the University of Debrecen, the wider context of the production of copper and bronze objects in the Early and Middle Bronze Age was presented by Szilvia Gyöngyösi.

On the same afternoon, starting with a Northwestern Transdanubian grave, Eszter Melis summarized the information currently available on Bronze Age ‘metallurgist’ graves and on craftsmen dealing with copper and bronzeworking.

On the closing day of the conference, Gabriella Kulcsár and Erika Gál analyzed the bone objects discovered at the Middle Bronze Age site of Kakucs-Turján, while Judit Pásztókai-Szeőke tried to reconstruct some aspects of the Middle Bronze textile technology as part of a newly launched basic research on special tools and impressions discovered at Füzesabony-Öregdomb (MBA tell settlement).

We could spend the three days of the conference in friendly atmosphere, and the event gave us an opportunity to discuss our results in a broader professional circle. We hope that the new ideas outlined in the lectures will help us enrich our own future research as well.

We owe special thanks to the staff of “Matrica” Museum in Százhalombatta for the invitation, as well as for organizing and conducting the conference!
